Studying Airspace Structural Issues.

In-progress research initiative run by a high school senior. Using aviation safety reports and local operational input to locate airspace structural issues in the NAS. Study currently focuses on VFR/IFR interactions.

01 /  REPORT INTAKE

ASRS reports and direct surveys are reviewed, and relevant details such as location, altitudes, and reported conflict mechanism are extracted.

Report Observations

Extracting airspace structural observations from aviation safety reports.

02 /  Issue IDENTIFICATION

Observation areas are identified when reports suggest an airspace structural issue contributing to traffic conflicts.

03 /  Professional review

Observations are refined through review by pilots, controllers, and aviation safety professionals.
